Fasting is what we in Poland usually assiciate with the 40-day-period before Easter (I gave up sweets, some people give up meat, others alcohol). This week the fasting month of Ramadan starts in Muslim countries. And it turns out that the prices go higher in the fasting period. Very surprising. As I am totally and utterly in the World Cup mood, following all the news about the players and the teams, I will probably introduce expressions related to the sporting business more and more until the 12th July. So today - a cooling break - after the Netherlands - Mexico game. What are the regulations behind this break? How long is it? See the FIFA website for all the details:
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y=2014/m=6/news=keeping-the-players-cool-at-brazil-2014-2369525.html Did you know that there exist companies that sell information about you - about how much money you make and whether you’re pregnant, divorced, or trying to lose weight? How much do data brokers know about individual people? They start with the basics, like names, addresses and contact information, and add on demographics, like age, race, occupation and "education level,", but that's just the beginning: The companies collect lists of people getting married, buying a home, sending a kid to college—or even getting divorced, expecting a new baby, hobbies, purchases, donatins to charities, etc. Why would this all be interesting for your doctor or for your hospital? See here:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-06-26/hospitals-soon-see-donuts-to-cigarette-charges-for-health.html The OECD (the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) has launched an interactive website that shows you various wellbeing indicators depending on where you live and compare them with the rest of your country. What has been measured? Income, jobs, health, access to services, environment, education, safety, and civic engagement.
Look at the indicators in the Mazowieckie region: http://www.oecdregionalwellbeing.org/region.html#PL12 Intellectual property is something that you have created that noone else is allowed to copy, sell or make. Would you ever believe that the expression could be used with reference to sport and football World Cup?
